John Greer in service to John Laurio Platt charged with general misconduct...Mr. Platt states.. On Sunday last the prisoner absented himself from my farm all day; on his return I remonstrated with him when he told me unless I would discharge a man now on my farm he would not do any more work for me. The following day on my ordering him to work he refused. On my insisting that he should go to his work, he made use of most insolent language which compelled me to send him to the watch house at Newcastle. This man has frequently been very impertinent to me during the time he has been in my service. The prisoner in his defence denies being insolent but admits having refused to work unless one of his fellow servants was discharged. Sentenced to one week solitary confinement in a cell
